Great Makurdians!!!

It is with a heart full of joy that I communicate with you through this forum. History was made again on the 4th August, 2007 when our great alumni association convened at the senate chamber of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi for the third convention. It was an eventful and purposeful meeting. I must congratulate you on the election and successful 3rd convention of the alumni association. We have to thank God for all the successes. The attendance was quite impressive and the first of its kind since inception of the UAM alumni association on 4th January, 2003. Seventy nine members registered and participated actively at the third national convention of our great association compared to the nineteen members that registered and attended the second national convention. This signifies that our great alumni association is growing with a jet speed with attendant challenges on all the members. This therefore calls for more commitment on the part of every member.

The spread of the attendance was also encouraging. Members from the following areas were in attendance: Lagos, Port Harcourt, Nassarawa, Kogi , Makurdi, Taraba, and Abuja. Abuja is specially acknowledged for a wonderful attendance and participation at the convention. The percentage of female attendance also improved this convention. I am really looking forward to your greater participation in the years ahead.

The following National Officers were elected and sworn in to man the affairs of UAM alumni association for two years beginning 4th August 2007.

2. Dr A. Ali - 1st Vice President
3. Engr Smart Ochieoyamhen - 2nd Vice President
4. Engr Alex Edeoja - 3rd Vice President
5. Comrade B.C. Anjembe - National secretary.
   Engr. Daniel Edoh - Assistant National Secretary.
   Engr. Clement Zwa - National treasurer.
   Mrs. Roselyn Nyigba - National financial secretary.
   Mr. Richard Awuhe - National publicity Secretary
   Mr. John Iheme. I. - National Social secretary.

In accordance with article fifteen of the alumni constitution, five trustees that were elected for the association in 2005 are yet to complete their tenure. They are:

1. Dr Timothy Ijir (USA)
2. Engr Aliu Azeez (Abuja)
3. Dr Ebenezer Ekefan (Makurdi)
4. Mr Nkendilim Ejim ( Lagos)
5. Mr Timothy Ahile (Makurdi)

Permit me to pay tribute to our past Vice Chancellors of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Prof. F. Idachaba, Prof. E.O. Gyang, Prof. J.O.I Ayatse, the acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. E.O. Ogunwolu, the Director of Alumni Relations, Mr. E. Kureve, our able and indefatigable immediate past National President Prof. I.N. Itodo and his team, and indeed everybody who has contributed positively in cash or kind to the growth of the association to this day. These people have contributed, made various sacrifices and taken giant strides for our great alma mater. The association appreciates them and wishes them success in all their endeavours.
