Message
from the National President continued
Great Makurdians,
Your National Officers wish to undertake the following projects
in the next two years:
- Secretariat
building & furnishing: this is the major project
of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and indeed all members
of our alma mater. As the association grows the need to have a
befitting structure of our own continue to stare in our faces.
We need office space for our National Secretariat since the constitution
has stipulated that “the National headquarters of the association
shall be situated at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi.”
We also need a place where our members in transit can lay their
heads when they come around. This structure can also generate
some revenue for us. It is indeed a very capital intensive project
and it is with great courage and boldness and faith in all of
us that “we can do it” that the NEC has decided to
embark on this all important project
- Almanac
launch: this will create awareness for our association
and in the long run generate some revenue for the association.
- Teaching/Learning
aids: This project will enable us to continue with the
‘Donate a book project’ and also continue to donate
computers and other aids to the school as the need arises.
- Revenue
mobilization project: this project will generate funds
for the association building project through the following activities;
launching, fast food joint, fund raising dinner, investments etc
the success of this project will determine the success of our
tenure in office.
- Branch
consolidation project: this project will be carried out
through the Honorary alumni forum, awareness workshops, etc and
will crate awareness and pave way for funds to carry on with our
projects.
- Charity
work: this project will also create awareness and exhibit
the human face of our association. The initiative will spur people
to assist us. This will help us reach out and help where necessary.
Some of our members are widows, widowers, some have left orphans,
and we should remember them.
The immediate
past National officers handed over the association to the new officers
precisely on the 21st August, 2007. We had the first NEC meeting
on the 1st September, 2007 and all the aforementioned projects are
already approved for take off. We are making necessary arrangements
to start off; you will be informed and given opportunity to contribute
your quota at the appropriate time.
Conclusion
I am out to serve our great alumni association with 3Ts, my treasure,
talent and time.
How about you?
A tree can
never make a forest and little drops of water make a river. So I
am counting completely on you, no contribution is too small. Our
various little contributions will transform and actualize our collective
dream for our great alma mater.
I thank you
once more for your interest in your alma mater. I assure you that
posterity will not forget us for every sacrifice and effort we make
to carry this association to greater heights.
On behalf of
the national officers I thank you immensely for given us the opportunity
to serve. We pray that God will be our pillar of support and we
shall not fail ‘you’.
May God Almighty
bless you so that you will in turn bless others through the UAM
alumni association?
Yours truly,
Dr (Mrs) Bibiana Dooshima Igbabul
National President
